Personal coupons for loyalty cards

Not one for all. One for each.

For every loyalty-card customer, coupons chosen by the AI from their own receipts, within your marketing team’s rules, on the channel you prefer. SmartPromotion is the tool: the strategy stays yours.

The problem with promos for all

A discount for everyone speaks to no one.

With a promo for all, the discount also goes to people who would have bought anyway, and your best customers get the same offer as someone who drops by now and then. With the same budget, SmartPromotion gives each customer a coupon on a product they buy, within the rules you set.

  • Discounts for people who would buy anyway

Part of the budget goes on purchases that would have happened regardless.

  • Best customers not recognised

Someone who shops with you every week gets the same offer as everyone else.

The proportions follow data from an Italian retailer: 20.2% of the coupons chosen by the AI within the marketing team’s rules were used, against 4.0% of the one-size-fits-all ones.

How it works

From receipt to checkout, in four steps.

SmartPromotion starts from data you already have and goes all the way to the checkout. In between are your rules: they decide what can be offered, and to whom.

  1. Receipts from loyalty-card customers

Purchases made with the loyalty card come from your systems: they show what each customer really buys.

  2. The AI chooses, within your rules

For each customer, the AI chooses the coupons that best match what they buy, within the rules and budget you set.

  3. Customers pick their own

They find their coupons on the channel you prefer, under your brand, and activate the ones they want to use.

  4. Used at checkout, data back to you

The coupon is used at checkout with the loyalty card, and every use flows back into the data, ready for deciding the next wave.

The strategy stays yours

Every lever is in your hands.

SmartPromotion is the tool. Who to talk to, how much to invest, which offers and when: you decide. The AI chooses coupons for each customer only within these rules.

  • Segments and TOP customers

Choose who to talk to: spending bands, new customers, people drifting away. You can keep a higher offer for your TOP customers.

  • Discount budget

Set how much discount goes into each wave: the coupons chosen stay within that budget.

  • Coupons per customer

Decide how many coupons to offer each customer and how many they can pick.

  • Exclusions

Leave out products already on promotion in the flyer, products that are not selling and products out of range. And any customers you want to keep out of a coupon.

  • Waves and calendar

Each wave has its own delivery and redemption dates and its own quotas per channel. You prepare it as a draft and it starts only when you approve it.

  • Offer mechanics

Money off in euros or as a percentage, a lower price, spend or quantity thresholds: you choose how to reward.

Market3rs supports you through start-up; the console, with its rules, waves and results, stays with your team.

Wherever your customers are

One engine, every channel you choose.

SmartPromotion is not an app: it is the engine behind your channels. The same personal coupons reach customers where they already are, and you decide which channels to use.

Each customer’s coupons, chosen within your rules, go out from here to every channel.

  • WhatsApp chatbot

Customers message your number and receive one message with a link to their coupons. In the chat they link their card and manage their consents.

  • Web app, no download

The link opens the web app: customers pick their coupons and find them in their coupon wallet, next to a digital loyalty card. Nothing to install.

  • Retailer app or members’ area

Coupons can also appear in your own app or in the members’ area of your website, alongside the services you already offer.

  • In-store kiosk

Customers scan their card, see the coupons picked for them, choose theirs and print them.

  • API

Your systems can request a customer’s coupons through the API and show them wherever you need.

  • With your banner

Customers recognise you: they see your banner, not ours. SmartPromotion stays behind the scenes.

  • WhatsApp, a direct channel

WhatsApp is a direct channel to your customers, on the phone they use every day. It is also a good reason to update consents: customers who want their coupons in the chat have a concrete reason to renew theirs, and they do it right there.

  • Alongside the flyer

SmartPromotion works alongside your flyer; it does not replace it. The flyer speaks to everyone, coupons to each customer. Products already on promotion in the flyer stay out of the coupons.

Results

Coupons customers actually use.

Three figures from an Italian retailer that uses SmartPromotion.

  • 5×

Coupons chosen by the AI within your marketing team’s rules are used 5 times as often as one-size-fits-all coupons.

20.2% of the coupons offered were used, against 4.0%.

  • 80%

80% of the discount goes to the best customers.

The discount is focused on TOP customers instead of being spread across everyone.

  • 2 in 3

2 in 3 of the best customers use their coupons.

Of the TOP customers reached, two in three used at least one coupon.

What they measure. These figures measure coupon use, not sales: they compare coupons chosen for each customer with one-size-fits-all coupons over the same period.

For IT

A few data flows. We adapt to your POS.

To get started, you only need to switch on a few data flows from the systems you already have. SmartPromotion adapts to how your POS handles promotions on the receipt, not the other way round.

  • We adapt to your POS system

The POS link is built for each retailer, starting from how it handles promotions on the receipt today: coupon codes generated by your POS, SOAP or REST web services, files of redeemed coupons.

  • Simple configuration

Once the flows are on, coupons, rules and waves are managed from the console: marketing works on its own, without opening an IT project for every campaign.

  • A new data source

Coupons offered, chosen and used land on BigQuery next to sales, cards and consents: a new source for the company that shows how customers use promotions. You read it in SmartPromotion’s 5 dashboards and, if your company uses B-AI, by asking B-AI.

  • Privacy and consents

Consents come from your system and decide who receives personal coupons and messages. Consents customers give in the chat flow go back to you.

With B-AI

Ask B-AI how your waves are doing.

B-AI is the Market3rs assistant that knows SmartPromotion’s data. It can tell you how your waves are doing and prepare the next one as a draft: you publish it, in SmartPromotion.

  • Answers on your data

B-AI can read SmartPromotion’s coupons, waves, customers and sales and answer in plain language, to the question you ask.

  • Prepares a draft

It can prepare the next wave or a new coupon as a draft, starting from what it has just read in the data.

  • You decide

On a live wave it can suggest pausing it, extending it or changing its budget: every change starts only after you confirm it.

  • You publish

B-AI does not publish anything on its own: you review the draft wave and publish it yourselves, in SmartPromotion.

TOP customers are using more coupons than in the October wave, mostly on dairy and breakfast. I can prepare the December wave as a draft with the same segments.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to give up the flyer?

No. SmartPromotion works alongside the flyer: the flyer speaks to everyone, coupons speak to each customer. Products already on promotion in the flyer stay out of the coupons, so the two do not overlap.

How long does it take to get started?

It depends on the data flows to switch on and on how your POS system works: we look at it with your IT team after the demo. Once the data flows are live and the initial strategy and customer experience are defined, you go live in about a week.

Does it work with our POS system?

We adapt to your POS system: the link is built for each retailer, starting from how the POS handles promotions on the receipt today (for example through SOAP or REST web services).

Do customers need to download an app?

No. Customers get the link on WhatsApp and open the web app in their browser, with nothing to install. If you already have an app or a members’ area on your site, the coupons can appear there too; in store there is the kiosk.

Who decides discounts and budget?

Your marketing team. Segments, discount budget, coupons per customer, exclusions, mechanics and the wave calendar are yours to set in the console; the AI picks the coupons for each customer only within these rules.

Where is the data, and who is responsible for it under GDPR?

SmartPromotion’s data lives on Google Cloud, in a project dedicated to your company, and customer consents come from your system. Your company is the controller, Market3rs is the processor (Art. 28 GDPR) and the data is hosted in the European Union.
